About Us
Joondalup Netball Association INC (JNA) is a community netball sporting organisation, committed to the inclusion & development of all players, coaches and officials.
JNA was formed in 1997.
Our association is a proud member of Netball WA. We cater for players ranging from Net Set Go (NET 5/6 years) to Seniors.
Our competition and programs are held on the outdoor netball courts at the HBF Arena sporting complex in Joondalup.
During the Winter season games are played on Saturdays, for Net Set GO to lower Junior Divisions and on a Monday evening, for the Junior to Open Divisions.
During the shorter Spring season games are played on a Monday and Tuesday evening.
To participate in the competitions please contact one of our affiliated clubs or teams.

Talks with Ron Elery (Arena Joondalup) re future of a Netball Association playing out of the Arena
- An Expressions of Interest circulation was sent to Joondalup residents and schools for a community based Netball Association
- West Coast Netball Region President Margaret Witney and Administrator Pat Dryden made telephone calls to netball clubs in the far northern suburbs to discuss a new association.
- First meeting was held to gain support and recognize helpers for the future. Dot Liddelow, Val Henny, Zenda Cocivera, Karen Mathews, Carol Roberts, Kim Reader and Sarah Bravington represented their clubs.
- Talks with WA Netball as to the probability of a new Association
- Proposal by West Coast Netball Region to begin a new Association with the guidance from the region for two years.
- Negotiations with Ron Elery and Dinah Fleming (facilities coordinator Arena Joondalup) as to hire of courts and facilities.
- First JNA committee elected, operating out of West Coast Region office in Wangara. JNA Committee for 1997 will be Margaret Witney – Chairperson, Dot Liddelow, Karen Mathews, Carol Roberts, Kim Reader, Sarah Bravington, Anne McManus and Tess Fisher.
- Those members present at the 1st AGM voted for a Monday night Competition to allow Junior players to have weekend jobs and still play netball.
- Rules, match days and Foundation clubs set up.
- Four courts were used (tennis court area) at the Arena.
- 3 Divisions played on Saturdays. Netta (school grades 3 and 4) in one division. Sub juniors (grades 5 and 6) in another and (grades 6 and 7) in the third. Juniors (School grades 8-12) and Seniors (turning 18 and over), played on Monday night. They were graded into 2 Divisions of 8, with knockout finals.
- JNA established. 1st season played at Joondalup Arena on Tennis courts. Netta and Sub Juniors – Saturday 9am-noon. Under 18 and Under 25 – Monday 5.30pm and 7pm timeslots.
- A Draft copy of the Constitution was made.
- At the conclusion of the 1st season, skirt badges were presented, as a memento of Joondalup’s Inaugural year (designer of badges – Karen Mathews)
- Margaret Witney (Chairperson) and Pat Dryden (WCNR Administrator) suggested to take 2 representative teams to the WA Members Association Championships. Uniforms were chosen and a 15U and 13U team was selected. The 1st Representative team uniform was a Grey pleated Skirt with a Burgundy T Shirt.
- Member clubs of JNA were Beaumaris, Clarkson Community High School, Currambine Catholic Primary School, East Wanneroo Primary School, Edgewater, Heathridge, Joondalup Primary School, Mullaloo, Ocean Reef Primary School, Merriwa Primary School, Prendiville Catholic College, Quinns Rocks Netball Club, St Simon Peter Primary School.
- Expectation for the season was 100 members i.e. approx. 14 teams. Actual membership exceeded 300.
- 30 club teams participated at JNA in Winter Season – 28 teams in Spring Season.
- Adoption of the Constitution at AGM.
- JNA became Incorporated 2nd
- Expressions of interest submitted for netball specific premises in Connolly, Joondalup and Currambine. None eventuated. Played at the Arena.
- Joondalup Netball Association Flag was donated by Margaret Witney.
- 5 teams were taken to WA Members Association Championships – JNA under 15s were Div 6 Premiers. It was our 1st WA Netball pennant.
- The following clubs became members of JNA – Belridge High school, Clarkson Primary School, Connolly Primary School, Currambine Primary School, Kinross Primary School, Poseidon Primary School.
- Forecasted membership was for 700 members over Winter/Spring. Actual membership – 624.
- 67 club teams participated at JNA in Winter Season.
- Expressions of interest submitted for netball specific courts in 2 different locations, being Currambine and Iluka. None eventuated.
- 6 teams were taken to WA Members Association Championships – JNA under 12s were Div 3 Premiers. The Representative teams uniform top changed to a sleeveless Maroon top with white collar and binding, with original Grey pleated skirt.
- Neerabup Primary School became a member of JNA.
- 87 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 61 in Spring season.
- JNA had to turn teams away, due to lack of playing space.
- ECU approached JNA, offering the use of their netball courts. However, we decided to stay at the Arena.
- 8 Members from different clubs represented JNA in the Olympic Torch Relay.
- 7 teams were taken to WA Members Association Championships – JNA under 12s were Div 4 premiers, and under 15s were Div 4 Premiers. It was JNA’s 1st year with an Opens Representative team.
- Our 1st Association jackets were produced for our representative teams.
- Mater Dei College became a member of JNA.
- 98 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season.
- JNA now have our own office located at Joondalup Lotteries House. Lisa Evans (JNA Secretary & Administrator) was integral in securing the office space.
- First JNA players (Holly Timms & Rebecca McPherson) to be selected in a Regional team.
- First JNA Umpire (Jenny Richardson) to obtain a National C Badge.
- Margaret Witney asked to be 1ST Patron of JNA.
- 8 teams were taken to WA Members Association Championships. Representative team uniform Skirt changed to a Maroon pleated one with White binding, to match sleeveless Maroon top with White collar and binding (some younger teams still wore original Grey pleated skirt).
- Mindarie Primary School and St Andrews primary School became JNA Members.
- 111 (approx.) club teams participated at JNA in Winter season.
- Rising membership numbers caused JNA to Play at Lake Joondalup Baptist College and the Arena.
- 2 umpires (Jenny Richardson and Karen Makepeace), selected for the State Netball League Umpiring Squad.
- 2 Coaches were selected to Coach Regional teams (Zenda Cocivera and Leanne Kelleher).
- JNA Vice President, Dot Liddelow, was recognised by the region as Volunteer of the year.
- 8 teams were taken to WA Members Association Championship weekend.
- Craigie High School, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School and Kingsway Christian College became members of JNA.
- 109 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season.
- JNA presented a Submission to City of Joondalup for a 12 court “Netball Centre” in the City of Joondalup.
- Arena investigated the possibility of 9 netball courts (where soccer currently was). JNA already using 3 indoor, 4 outdoor and 2 grass courts.
- Arena proposed a Capital development of the Arena, for “clubrooms”, toilets etc., to accommodate Rugby, Netball and Athletics.
- ACSRA (Arena Community Sport & Recreation Association), of which JNA is a member, became incorporated.
- 5 Teams competed at the Smoke Free Members Associations Championships – JNA under 13’s were Div 4 Premiers.
- 107 club teams participated at JNA this year.
- First JNA Life Member – Dot Liddelow, nominated, carried and accepted at AGM.
- JNA Patron – Dot Liddelow nominated, carried and accepted at AGM.
- First JNA Umpire (Jenny Richardson) to obtain a National A Badge.
- 1st year that JNA ran an Opens Competition (18 & over).
- 6 Teams competed at the Smoke Free Member Associations Championships.
- Brighton Catholic Primary School, Butler Primary School and Whitfords Catholic Primary School became members of JNA.
- 88 plus (Yr 8-Yr 12 players) club teams participated at JNA in Winter season.
- JNA “Netball News” promoted on Twin cities radio Saturday Morning show during Winter season.
- Melissa Molloy became JNA’s first West Coast Warrior.
- 8 Teams competed at the Smoke Free Association Carnival – JNA under 13s were Div 3 Premiers.
- 104 plus (inc. Opens) club teams participated at JNA this year.
- Construction started on 9 purpose built netball courts.
- 10 Teams competed at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Carnival – JNA under 12s were Div 2 Premiers and under 14s were Div 3 Premiers.
- 115 club teams participated at JNA this year.
- 9 purpose built netball courts completed for commencement of 2007 winter season (Official opening in May).
- 8 Teams represent JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Carnival. Representative team uniform was a new shiny printed skirt and top.
- Halidon Primary School and St Luke’s Primary School became members of JNA.
- 125 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 93 teams in Spring season.
- Carol Roberts became Life Member of JNA
- 9 Teams represent JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Carnival – JNA under 14s were Div 2 Premiers.
- Beldon Primary School, East Butler Primary School and Quinns Baptist College became members of JNA.
- 137 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 85 teams in Spring season.
- Introduction of a “caravan” match office. To be towed to and from the netball grounds, each match day (Monday night, Saturdays – winter. Monday and Tuesday nights – Spring).
- 9 Teams represent JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Carnival – JNA Opens A team were Div 2 Premiers. The Opens Representative teams wore the old JNA uniform (Maroon skirt and Maroon top with White binding).
- Northern Lights and Warwick High School became members of JNA.
- 129 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 96 teams in Spring season.
- Val Henny became Life Member of JNA
- Work begins on ACSRA clubrooms.
- Green Shirt Umpires – A new umpire development program commenced.
- 9 teams represent JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships – JNA under 12s were Div 3 Premiers.
- Lake Joondalup became a member of JNA.
- 132 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 102 teams in Spring season.
- Benita Swain became Life Member of JNA
- 14 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships – JNA Opens were Div 4 Premiers. The Opens and 17U Representative teams wore the old JNA uniform (Maroon skirt and Maroon top with White binding).
- 126 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 96 teams in Spring season
- ACSRA Clubrooms opened.
- 15 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships – JNA under 13s were Div 6 Premiers. The Opens Representative teams wore a new JNA Dress uniform. The rest of the representative teams continued to wear the shiny printed skirts and tops.
- Woola Woola Koolangkas became members of JNA.
- 135 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 91 teams in Spring season.
- Project Working Group – Arena Joondalup Netball Court Expansion Project formed. $600,000 to be spent on additional courts (6 + the resurfacing of the 4 tennis courts) = 10 extra courts. Later changed to 5 courts + match office. Later changed to 3 courts + match office.
- 14 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships – JNA Opens were Div 5 Premiers.
- 130 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 106 teams in Spring season.
- JNA started using My Netball (netball registration website/system).
- 13 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships. It was our most successful result. 5 teams made it to the Grand Finals, resulting in 3 teams being Premiers – they were the under 12s Div 6, under 13s Div 4, under 15s Div 2.
- 131 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – there was no spring season this year as new courts were being constructed.
- 3 extra courts and demountable Match Office (incorporating 1st Aid room and Umpires room) completed.
- 14 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships.
- 137 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 91 teams in Spring season.
- Formal Opening of the 3 extra courts and the new Match Office building.
- Spectator Seating installed between the 9 original and the 3 new Courts
- 12 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships – JNA Opens were Div 3 Premiers.
- 143 club teams participated at JNA in Winter season – 91 teams in Spring season.
- Talks re obtaining Drink fountains, extra fencing and extra storage at court and office space at clubroom.
- Extra fencing (east side) and 2 Drink fountains installed at courts
- Joanne Bayliss became Life Member of JNA
- 20yr Anniversary celebrations include a celebratory Sundowner party with significant “old” and current volunteers to JNA being invited.
- 13 Teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships. New JNA representative uniforms (dresses and jackets) and Coach/Committee Polos were designed, received and worn by all teams.
- 156 club teams participated at JNA in the Winter season – 88 teams in Spring season.
- JNA storage Shed and Clubs Storage Shed addition to Match Office, completed
- Jan Rowe became Life Member of JNA
- 11 teams represented JNA at the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships
- 127 club teams participated at JNA in the Winter season – 88 teams in Spring season.
- Moved into new JNA office at ACSRA (17 Dec )

Insurance
Membership with Netball WA includes cover under the Netball Australia National Insurance Program. This program is handled by Howden Group as our insurance broker.
Please note that insurance cover only applies to members who are involved in Netball Western Australia sanctioned competitions and activities. Members are not covered if they play in a non-affiliated netball competition.
